Where the Wild Things Are
(4 out of 5) First off let me say this movie is not for everyone. Children will like this movie and some adults. For the adults though, they will have to be able more than likely to grasp the beauty of the film. With each monster either representing a person in his life, or one of his emotions. The film teaches us that it’s getting harder and harder to be a kid in the world today.
The movie is about a kid named Max, who is sick of his life. His sister wants to have nothing to do with him, his mother is dating a new guy, and he feels left out of everything. Max runs away and is soon swept away to a new world with wild monsters. He proclaims himself king and hopes to have a better life, but it’s going to be harder than he thinks.
The movie is just beautiful. With it’s monsters done beautifully and real-looking and just the all around film. The film had a wonderful message and a deep meaning to it. It even managed
to put some comedy into it. However, im not sure it’s for children. It had some pretty intense scenes and even a bad word or two. Once again though, if you dont pay attention to this film and just take in it’s wonderous atmosphere then you’ll probably not going to like this. The movie isnt really for everyone. Its not the kind of movie you just pick up at the video store to rent.
Although, this amazing movie isnt without flaws. At times the movie would slow down and just get boring. They would linger and just drag on a scene for way too long. Plus, I wasnt really satisfied with the ending.
In conclusion, this was a movie that you have to have an acquired taste to. Either you’ll love it, or just downright hate it. I absolutely loved it. However, im a little unsure whether to recommend it to everyone. If you are looking for a deep movie that will make you think and even cry a little then this is a movie for you. If you are searching for an action movie or a knee-slapping comedy then I suggest you see something else, like Zombieland.
