Spider-Man:Web of Shadows(PS3)

(4 out of 5)  This was a great game. There were only a few problems with it just like any other game but it was still an awesome Marvel game. The action and graphics were something to admire and this game will keep you entertain for a good while.

The story is about when Venom comes back in town and Spider-Man has to deal with him. When they battle, the suit separates and bonds with Spider-Man, giving him the black suit once more. Venom was defeated and escaped and Spider-Man thought that was the end of that. He was wrong, pretty soon Venom infects the whole city, turning everyone into symbiote zombies. It’s up to Spider-Man and some heroes and even villains to save the day.

The story is good just leaves a huge gap in the story. Like why Venom was infecting the city!? It doesn’t explain it whatsoever. I think the developers focused so much on the action and such that they didn’t focused too much on the story, which they should have. Other than that it was okay.  I liked how like right after a boss battle or before a special cutscene you could choose two paths, red or black, good or evil. I liked how the choices you make affect the story and cutscenes. I mostly chose good cause when I choose evil it didn’t feel right and I was like”How could you do that Spider-Man!?” The choices you make draw you into the videogame and you feel like your Spider-Man and such.Although, I didn’t like the dark path, it was fun to see how far Spider-Man goes. I like as the game progresses the city slowly falls into choas and starts to slowly transform.

The gameplay was something to admire. Swinging, punching, etc. is loads of fun and I enjoyed it greatly.Swinging from building to building is great. The camera can mess up a few times and it takes a awhile to fix it, that was a problem. Another problem is sometimes you don’t know where you go. On a couple of occasions I had to swing around the city till I found my destination by accident. Other than that, the gameplay was great.

The boss battles were fun. I loved how the villains and even the heroes get infected and you have to fight them and get the suit off of them. They looked great in their symbiote forms and it was a downright pleasure beating the crap out of them.

The graphics were average. Nothing too outstanding but it was still great.   It could have been worked on a little more but it wasn’t that big of a deal to me. Something that needed work though was the voice-acting. It wasn’t exactly bad, but it wasn’t good either. Spider-Man sounded like a little kid and Luke Cage sounded like a stereotypical black man. He would say Fool and such, he was basically a Mr.T knockoff. Wolverine was great though and some of the others too, but most needed work bad.

Overall, this game is great and is a must-play. It has some problems, some small, some major, but nothing you can’t ignore.  There is a large cast of Marvel heroes and villains, most of which will come to your aid if you call them.Which is awesome! The gameplay and graphics are great and the game is long enough for any player.
